The noise in apartment buildings is regarded as one of the major factors that determine the quality of the housing environment.
Particularly, the noise from the water supply and drain pipe system is transmitted continuously next door through the building structures and causes considerable discomfort to the residents because of frequent usage.
High water pressure in high-raised apartments and embedded pipe system transmitted a plumbing noise to next door.
This study is to evaluate the characteristics of plumbing noise and provide a fundamental data for the methods of plumbing noise in apartment building.
Those are useful to control the noise from the water supply and drain pipe systems. For the purpose of it, the sound level of noise source, the characteristics of noise propagation and the amount of the noise to be reduced for comfortable dwelling environments are investigated.
