This paper has attempted to examine the nexus between housing investment and regional economic development in-Korea. For that purpose, the effects of housing investment on regional economy are conceptually classified as ⅰ) regional output effect, ⅱ) regional employment effect, ⅲ) regional infrastructure effect, and ⅳ) the effect of regional housing conditions.
Using the data for Pusan city, the former three effects have been empirically measured by the regional input-output model indirectly derived from the 1985 national input-output table, while the last effect has been analysed through the change of some regional indicators such as housing supply ratio.
Furthermore, the regional implications of those empirical analyses have been discussed in detail in the context of both housing and economic policies.
