A study of Tangun continued over one hundred years deeply after the introduction of the western study. It is due to that Tangun is special standing now in Korea history. There has a close connection with nationalism, which ruled 20th century.
North Korea excavated so-called Tangun's tomb at the suburbs of Pyongyang 1993. They reorganized their ancient history according to results of the examination. This reflect their present viewpoint in the historical science. After this, the contents informed in South Korea no filtering and some people expanded the results for a great empire history, that is, Old Joseon history.
However, we must caution to the present viewpoint in historical studies. In the standing of the theme, it is possible to influence an current view. In another experiment, the reflection of the present viewpoint is reasonable. Nevertheless, when we try to study the extent of before 20th century, we must exclude an current view.
