Recently, the IT convergence with railway industry, that is, 'Railway IT' has been reforming railway industry into a new public transportation service industry. Railway IT means the IT system and its technologies which allow to share various informations gathering from rolling stock, infrastructures, operations and control of railway, etc. and to support various activities such as analysis, monitoring, control, providing informations, etc. as well. However, the IEC(International Electrotechnical Commission) has not been established yet in the railway IT field. Accordingly, the KS(Korea Standards) to meet the domestic standard has rarely been existed. For this reason, in this paper, authors suggests the application of IT into railway network through the investigation of IEC to establish effectively the railway IT standards to meet domestic railway environment by taking advantage of IT. Thus, through the results of this study, it is expected that railway construction and operating engineers are able to monitor easily any events such as accidents, failures, etc. and various media informations on journey by train can be served to passengers as well. It is also expected that the result provides a big help to build IT system for the development of railway IT.
