This paper explores the relationship between nation"s competitiveness and the results of the 16th Asian Games in 2010 in Guangzhou. I used economic power, population size, number of athletics, and path analysis to find out the relationships of these variables. The data were analyzed by correlation coefficient, regression analysis, and path analysis. I chose every nation which attended this game as a unit of analysis. I found the following outcomes. First, the direct effect of population size on medals is negative and strong. Second, the indirect effect of population size on medals is also negative but weak. Third, the direct effect of GDP per person on medals is the most strong and positive. Fourth, the indirect effect of GDP per person on medals is also positive. Fifth, the effect of the number of athletics on medals is also positive.
