This article aims to speculate the socio-cultural features of maritime not as a ecological space but as a social one in the perspective of cultural changes. In my opinion, the maritime has been rather a base where various peoples has met, related to each other, and created culture than a complement to the land. The socio-cultural features drawn out of the life world of the maritime people has been linked to the history of seaport cities, when they are defined as a category of the maritime world. The seaport cities has involved not only common cultural strata with other cities" history and culture, but also the distinctive cultural ones. These strata must be illuminated in more extensive context of maritime and relating to the social relations of peoples living in maritime, as such the tribe of maritime people and boat-dwelling mariners. Their reciprocal exchange-relations, cross-bordering and plural networks, and connectedness as a cultural-economic unit contribute largely to the global networks of seaport cities. As time goes, the reciprocal networks on the basis of various socio-cultural bonds will get more and more important. It is this reciprocal relations that will establish the base of social relations in which virous regions and cultures would can coexist with each other.
