This study is a part of “2010 Wetland Survey” ministered by the Ministry of Envirorunent of Korea. We found 42 wetlands in the region and classified them by widely-used hydrogeomorphological approaches. After hydrogeomorphological approach adopted officially by the USACE in 1990s, this approach has been widely used for the inventorying and mapping wetlands around the world. We assigned a conservation grade considering its land use and vegetation cover. In this way, thirty three wetlands are classified into the riparian or riverine wetland and nine wetlands are classified as palustrine wetlands. A map and photos of Harnunho wetland in Yangpyeong are provided as a well-preserved wetland and a map and photos of Solgeori wetland in Inje are provided as a poorly-managed wetland. In case of the USA, certain wetlands are given the title of type wetlands, which could help other participants of wetland inventory (Mitsch & Gosselink, 2(00). Only a correct and complete survey can guarantee the correct “National wetland inventory”, which may enhance the recognition of wetland by the ordinary citizen and interested parties, which may help the development of geotourism or common ecotourism. A well-established conservation scheme of wetland may propagate through the whole country easily, therefore is very important to setup firm conservation principles for the wetland. Participations of both local people and experts in protection fields are most important in these processes.
