This study was conducted to investigate the effect of long-term combined exercise program on general characteristics, muscle strength and muscle function of 1284 elderly(men 374, women 910) living in rural areas. The conclusions of this study are as follows:
1. Factor in body composition body fat, BMI, body fat for both men and women in the exercise program, according to the application showed that the difference between time (p<.01).
2. Upper and lower strength for both men and women between the time of measurement was increased significantly(p<.01). Flexibility is improved in both men and women showed that between the time of measurement. Upper extremity flexibility, the women were higher than men(p<.01) and the flexibility of lower extremity was higher in men than in women(p<.05). In addition, depending on gender and the time of measurement, and the difference was statistically significant (p<.01). Balance in both men and women, depending on the time of measurement was improved significantly(p<.01). And even general endurance of the men and women (men<women) was significantly higher(p.<01). From these results, it suggested that combined exercise program using a long-term of stretching, resistance exercise and the dance sport have a crucial role for daily life and physical activity of older people n rural elderly by improving of muscle strength and function.
