The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between the health status, health prompting behaviors and residence types in university students. University students (N=267) were selected as usable data by cluster random sampling at university in GyeongGe-Do and Kangwon-Do province. Data was collected by Health Practice Index(Belloc & Breslow, 1972; Lee, 2007) and SF-36 Scale(Ware & Sherboune, 1992; Ko, et al., 1997). According to research mater, One-way ANOVA and Multiple Regression Analysis through SPSS 19.0 Version are applied for the analysis of the data. The results are as follows; First, it was showed that health prompting behaviors partially differed by residing types of university students. Second, it was showed that health status partially differed by residing types of university students. Finally, the health prompting behaviors had significant influence on health status. In detail, physical activity in health prompting behaviors were positive influenced the role limitation-emotion, general health and physical functioning, nutritional status were positive influenced the general health and physical functioning, stress management positive influenced the mental health. and health habit management were positive influenced the role limitation-emotion, general health, physical functioning and social functioning. in contrast, detrimental habit management were negative influenced the role limitation-emotion, general health, physical functioning, mental health and social functioning.
