This research is to investigate the relationship of participation motive of university students on elective physical education courses, class satisfaction, and exercise adherence, providing fundamental data to discover factors that encourage university students to participate more in elective physical education courses and elements that enable them to continue their exercise after their graduation.
The conclusions, derived from findings of this research, are as follows.
First, for the influence of participation motive on class satisfaction, variables such as class operation, class instruction, and healthy life are improved if skill, pleasure, and strength are increased, which are participation motive factors. Class operation and class instruction variables became better when show-off factor is less. Plus, class environment also showed improvement when participation motive factors like pleasure, sociality, and strength are on the rise. Among class satisfaction variables, participation motive influenced the most to class operation, followed by healthy life and class instruction.
Second, for the influence of participation motive on exercise adherence, higher tendency towards exercise adherence is observed as pleasure, strength, and show-off factor, all of which are participation motive factors, are on the rise. Exercise adherence was reinforced more when skill and pleasure of participation factors are increased. Participation motive influenced more on the tendency than on the reinforcement of exercise adherence.
Third, for the influence of elective physical education class satisfaction on exercise adherence, students showed higher tendency towards exercise adherence as variables such as class operation, class instruction, and healthy life are improved. Exercise adherence was more reinforced as variables such as class operation, class instruction, and healthy life were on the rise. Class satisfaction influenced more on the tendency than on the reinforcement of exercise adherence.
