This book describes the whole process of Sambyolcho from its birth to extinction in a chronological order. There wasno other country than Goryeo severely resisting Mongolia that put the whole world in to horror in the 13th century. Goryeo resisted against Mongolia for 43 years and Sambyolcho lied at the foundation of such long resistance. Such anti-Mongolian resistance of Sambyolcho that Mongolia did not expect. It influenced not only on the policy of Mongolia against Goryeo but also on the military expedition to Japan. Accordingly, to understand Mongolian invasion, resistance of Goryeo and overall surrounding history of East Asian history, it needs to have proper understanding of Sambyeolcho. In that sense, it can be said that this books is the most objective and systematic description on Sambyolcho.
The book consists of as follows: Chapter1. East Asian history in the 13th century, Chapter 2. Ganghwadoseong and Sambyeolcho, Chapter 3. Entering mountain fortress and 30 years thereupon, Chapter 4. Sambyeolcho and Jindo, Chapter 5. Sambyolcho as maritime power and west and south islands, and Chapter 6. Sambyolcho and Tamla Hangpaduseong.
This book was written for easy read compared with existing major books. Thanks to this book, readers, experts and non-experts alike could step one closer to Sambyolcho. In this sense, it is fair to appraise that this book contributes to popularize Sambyolcho beyond an introductory book.
