The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of eating habits and life behaviors of elementary school children and parents eating habits and life behaviors of elementary school children and parents. 5,693 children (boys: 2,758; and girls: 2,935) volunteered attending 47 elementary schools and their parents in N city, Gyeonggi-do, in June 2009 in this study. All subjects were examined relevance between children`s eating habits and obesity, and the relevance among parental BMI, dietary behavior and children`s obesity for both parents and children. Through statistical analysis on independent t-test, Chi-square test and multi-variate regression analysis. The result showed that obesity rate of boys are higher than girls. The more obese children have the short feeding time (p < .000) and short sleep time (p < .000). In addition, parents of obese children are shown as having higher BMI (p < .000). Mothers from group of obese children eat less breakfast, and drink more alcohol (p < .000). These findings suggested that low frequency of breakfast, short feeding time and sleep time, parental higher BMI and high frequency of drinking influence on risk factor of child obesity. In conclusion, In order to reduce child obesity, children`s habit is very important as well as parental eating habit and life behavior.
