During the Spring and Autunm period as well as the Warring states period, China went through a dramatical economic transition. At the same time, there was a movement of contention of different schools, which generated hundred of brilliant philosofers such as Confucius, Lao Zi aand Zhuang Zi. Scholars held highly immaterial and behavioral freedom that time. Therefore, Mohism was also developed under the background.
Mozi outstood himself from bottom of the society, organized a powerful politic group and established a unique economic proposition. According to relative materials, this article analyzed the Economic Proposition of Mozi.
Mozi argued that “Technology benefits all the people”, which is the principle of his political opinion as well as economic proposition. Thus, Mozi persued all the behaviors which mathed his idea, and fought against with those who disagreed with him.
At that time, agriculture was the mainstream of national economy, which would help the country to be wealthy. Mozi devoted himself in finding the way to make the country become better. According to this, we can see that Mozi was an opposition faction of the Confucianism, which is exactly what this article care about. For example, criticized the Confucian belief that modern life should be patterned on the ways of the ancients. After all, he pointed out, what we think of as “ancient” was actually innovative in its time, and thus should not be used to hinder present-day innovation.
Because of the wide aspects of Mozi’s theroy, which includes politic, economy, physic, ect. It is difficult to conclude a compelete system of his economic proposition. However, he gave the most unique and impressive economic proposition at that time. Therefore, it is meaningful to do more research about that.
