This study is to explore the relationship between local amenities and migration based on preferences of employees affiliated with the Korea National Research Foundation(KNRF). The KNRF has relocated from Seoul to Daejeon due to the advancement plan for public institutions, as well as effective strategies for their early settlement.
It attempts to identify the degree of demand by migrating workers through measuring the importance of local amenities which they considered when moving to Deajeon, and their current level of satisfaction. It then suggests the amenity strategies that local government and local community are capable of providing.
As a result, the importance of local amenities is mostly concentrated on neighborhood, environmental, and urban amenities in order. Furthermore the level of satisfaction regarding local amenities is mostly below average. Especially, this study reveals that neighborhood amenities are the primary factor that directly affects individual migration and urban amenities are important factor for long-term migration.
