This study aims to propose the construction of knowledge model and investigates how such words as ‘dog’, ‘goldfish’, and ‘whale’, are stored in memory and undergo the Conceptual-ontological process. The results of this study were as follows.
Firstly, the testees of the word association test were given a set of words as a ‘stimulus word’. To put it another way, the ‘stimulus word 1’ was ‘Animal’, the ‘stimulus word 2’ was ‘Nickname’. Then, they were asked to respond with the expressions that came to their minds. As s result, I was able to identify ‘meaningful respond words’ in the response expression of the testees.
Secondly, According to cognitive linguistics theory, the role of ‘stimulus words’ were quite similar to as a role of ‘context modulator’. I constructed ‘representation’ and ‘activation knowledge domain’ for each ‘contextual modulator’ with only ‘respone word’ extracted from word association test of words ‘dog’, ‘goldfish’, and ‘whale’. In other words, ‘contextual word 1’ (Animal) was related to ‘metonymy’. ‘contextual word 2’ (nickname) was related to ‘metaphor’ and ‘metonymy’. In addition, I compared the knowledge model with Korean dictionaries, mainly describing differences.
lastly, I examined the contents of ‘Knowledge model’, ‘Korean doctionary’, as a simulator ‘TV advertising artwork’ and ‘TV advertising statement’. To this end, the ontological hierarchical structure was considered together, which was collectively referred to as ‘conceptual-ontological value’. This was mainly ‘the negative mind value’.
