The purpose of this study was to examine the multi-mediated effects of achievement-oriented dysfunctional attitude and sociotropy dysfunctional attitude in the correlation between married women’s marital conflicts and depressive symptoms. The subjects of analysis were 339 married women between 20 and 70 years old living in the four regions of Daegu, Busan, Ulsan, and Gumi. Participants responded about marital conflict, dysfunctional attitude, and depressive symptoms in the self-reported questionnaire. In this study, correlation analysis was conducted to determine the relationship between marital conflict, dysfunctional attitude, and the depressive symptoms. Also, hierarchical regression analysis was performed using SPSS Win 23.0 and SPSS Macro to verify the mediated effects of dysfunctional attitudes in the associations between marital conflict and depressive symptoms. First, marital conflict, achievement-oriented dysfunctional attitude, sociotropy dysfunctional attitude, and depressive symptoms were significantly correlated. Second, achievement-oriented dysfunctional attitude and sociotropy dysfunctional attitude independently and partially mediated the relationship between the marital conflict and depressive symptoms. Third, the results of the parallel-multiple-mediated model revealed that both achievement-oriented dysfunctional attitude and the sociotropy dysfunctional attitude have significant indirected effects although there were no significant differences in indirect effects between them. The implications for effective intervention to reduce women’s depressive symptoms were discussed based on the findings of the study.
