The purpose of this study is to explore the alternative professionalism of women’s vocational education and to apply it for strengthening the professionalism of vocational education in Seoul women’s development centers. In order to elucidate the factors that constitute the professionalism of new women’s vocational education, we examined the history and current status of national and foreign vocational education policy and women’s vocational education policy and conducted the theoretical analysis related to vocational education for women. We analyzed the vocational education of women’s development centers as the status quo also deducted needs and demands for innovation directions of Seoul women’s development centers focusing vocational educational professionalism by conducting a survey to stakeholders, experts, and users.
As a result of the study, the vocational education for women has been required to emphasize career attitude and gender equality in terms of labor market changes and various vocational education needs and backgrounds. The Women’s Development Center provided various standardized vocational education programs, but had specialized programs for each center.
As a policy suggestion, we suggested a strategy to strengthen the women’s development center professionalism strategy as to be a public service base for women’s labor support policy, and to minimize the central government and public offering projects.
