This paper aims to suggest solutions for the error prevention of Korean Defense Specification Preparation based on the literature survey and case study. KDS has an important role in the development and production stages of defense systems. However, KDS contains various weak points which have negative influence on the system performance. Therefore, it is necessary to advance KDS management systems and documentation rules. In order to achieve high quality KDS, literature survey and case study were carried out in this paper. At first, previous studies on the management and documentation of KDS are summarized and analyzed, to make a conclusion that it is necessary to enhance the KDS management system in the matter of establishment, management, and classification and documentation rules of KDS should be investigated. Nextly, the documentation problems are analyzed based on the case study of the revision process of military aircraft specification. The result shows that KDS can include various human errors such as mis-writing, omission, and discordance in the requirements and verifications of KDS. In order to prevent this immaturity which can cause several problems on the quality of defense products, the causes and solutions on those errors are discussed, and the documentation method for KDS is also suggested.
