The aim of this study is to analyze researches on modern women who had lived in Korea from 1876 to 1945. In ChapterⅡ, this paper attempted to find out the trend of study by analyze the subject of papers which had been studied from 1950’s to 2006. The trend of studies have changed under the influence of women movement and women studies. In 1970’s, the studies on modern women’s history had continued under the influence of the theory of modernization. Therefore the study on the rise in women’s position had appeared important subject. In 1980’s, the study about the women in general had appeared. After that, in 1990’s, the study of women’s identity made a start. In Chapter Ⅲ, this paper classify researches into some subjects, modern women, ‘military comfort woman’, women’s movement, education of woman, which have studied amply rather than other subjects and analyze the trend of the some subjects. In Analysis, A dispute of nationalism and Feminism about modern women and ‘military comfort woman’ came to the surface. And A dispute about woman’s movement made a start. In conclusion, we are confronted with some subjects. First, the study of modern women‘s history need the theory of women history and various materials. Secondly, modern women’s history must study the life of women who had lived in general as farmer and labor. Thirdly, modern women’s history must study women who had lived under special situation, modernization and the Japanese Colonialism.
