This study examines the impacts of childcare teacher’s emotional intelligence on job performance, and the mediation effects of organizational commitment. The findings of this study are as follows: First, as a result of a correlation analysis among childcare teacher’s emotional intelligence, job performance and organizational commitment, the childcare teachers’ emotional intelligence showed a positive relationship with job performance and organizational commitment. Second, according to the analysis on the impacts of childcare teacher’s emotional intelligence and organizational commitment on job performance, as the understanding of others’ emotion and utilization of emotion among the sub-factors of emotional intelligence are higher, job performance was higher, namely, there were significant impacts. Third, as a result of mediation effects analysis of organizational commitment on the impacts of emotional intelligence on job performance, partial mediation effects were shown. Therefore, the following are suggested: The environment, where emotional intelligence can be exerted well should be shaped. An emotional approach needs to be encouraged in childcare institutions, and an encouragement should be offered to perform work well through exertion of emotional intelligence. In addition, a system to educate all these in the job education curriculum needs to be devised.
