Purpose: After the implementation of “Recent-revised Compromising Nursing Service,” various changes in the detailed spaces of the wards took place. As sub-stations space emerge due to decentralization of nursing stations, appropriate areas allocation is required. The tightened guidelines on how to deal with infectious diseases, such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome, have also strengthened controls on visitors as well as revisions to the medical law. In addition to the comprehension ‘Implementation of Nursing/Care-taking Service Policy’ this study aims to explore the effects of the wards on recent changes in health care policies, derive spatial characteristics, and identify them through area comparison. Method: Ten general hospitals that implement ‘Compressive Nursing Service’ were selected and the new hospitals, including three leading hospitals, are targeted to reflect recent changes in medical policy. The target hospital was classified as of the year in which the major health care policy was implemented, and the drawing analysis compared to its characteristics with the changes in area by sector. Result: The floor area per bed in the ward has recently been increasing for the new hospitals, and the public areas have not much changed. The patient space per bed increases year by year, which is seen as the effect of the four-bedroom plan after the revision of the medical law and the resulting decrease in the number of beds in the standard care unit as well. On the other hand, the medical care support space, staff space, and patient facilities space do not show any significant changes. In particular, the case of D hospital, which actively introduced the system as a leading hospital for nursing and nursing services, shows the area of the large substation and the reduced staff space among the care support spaces, which will require further study through POE in the future.
