The purpose of this study was to examine effects of experience participating in rhythm—based physical activity programs on socialization of children with disabilities. This study was conducted to examine differences with a focus of the 6 sub-categories of socialization. 200 participants were recruited and consisted of the parents, teachers, and legal guardians of children with disabilities. Their child with disabilities were enrolled from 4 welfare centers, middle schools, and high schools located in the metropolitan of Seoul. The Social Maturity survey was used for this study, and the validity and reliability appropriate for research were obtained. Besides of frequent analysis and reliability analysis, independent t-test was used to examine differences between children with disabilities who had experience participating in the program and those who did not have. The results indicated that there were significant differences in development of socialization between participants who had experience participating in rhythm-based physical activity programs and those who did not have. In addition, the results showed that children with disabilities who had experience participating in rhythm-based physical activity programs have positive effects on their socialization as the period of participation becomes longer. Based on these results, we found that children with disabilities have positive impact on socialization development as their previous experience, frequency, period of participating in rhythm-based physical activity programs become longer.
