This study applies China’s three-phase evaluation theory to understand the impact of each country’s scoring system by stage on match performance and to then compare the relationship between factors and table tennis techniques for each country by analyzing the world’s strongest Chinese national male table tennis team and top-ranking Japanese and Korean national male table tennis teams. Four of the top 30 globally ranked players from each national table tennis team were selected. A total of 120 competitions, composed of ten competitions per player and 40 competitions per national team, from the previous three years, were analyzed. The results of the study are as follows: First, there exists a statistically significant correlation between the scoring system at each stage and match performance for each country’s national male table tennis team. Second, the impact of the scoring system at each stage on each national male table tennis teams’match performance was commonly greatest for the Chinese, Japanese, and Korean national male table tennis teams after the fourth ball, the second and fourth balls, and the first and third balls, respectively. These results jointly indicate that to improve match performance among top world-ranking table tennis players and to demonstrate excellence during competitions, it is necessary for players to not only possess specialty techniques but for training programs and systems to strengthen players’ abilities to adapt and play-by-ear at each stage, by developing serves with strong rotation for the first ball, stable receiving for the second ball, and various rallying techniques to minimize errors.
