This paper aims to represent the right style of costumes worn in the 2<SUP>nd</SUP> episodic memorial dancing event at the Moonchang Festival, the 5<SUP>th</SUP> cultural heritage of Gyongsangnam-do. Different styles of costumes were worn at various events between 1998 and 2019. Thus, it became necessary to stipulate the exact costume for memorial dancing to preserve its traditionality and historicity as a cultural asset. It led me to analyze the present style of these costumes and establish the memorial dancing costume style suitable for the ritual, characteristic of the Moonchang Festival through detailed historical investigation. The festival has a dual structure of ritual and play, and in its first and second episodes, an official gisaeng leads a memorial dance of ritual character on the initiative of an official authority. The official authority plays a leading role in setting up the memorial dancing costume style, which encompasses the styles of drum dancing, traditional rituals, and spirit propitiation. In this respect, therefore, it appears to be possible to represent the memorial dancing costume style exactly by examining the ritual costumes of the Chosen Dynasty. In conclusion, it was observed that the memorial dancing costume style should be a mourning dress named Cheondam Dress.
