This study empirically analyzed the subjective concept of residential welfare workers" perception of residential welfare by applying the Q methodology to residential welfare workers.
The perception of residential welfare of residential welfare workers was derived into four types. The first type is the physical housing environment improvement type, the second type is the residential welfare policy support type, the 3 type is the broader type of housing service support type, and the 4 type is the realization type of residential welfare to guarantee the right to live.
This classification seems to have been derived from differences in perception of the concept of residential welfare and the scope of services. The types were classified according to whether the concept of residential welfare was recognized as a consensus (type 2) or a broad sense (type 4). In addition, it was classified according to whether the scope of residential services is limited to physical facility improvement (type 1), and whether it includes counseling, discovery, psychological, and emotional services for the vulnerable (types 3). It is judged that individuals" perceptions differ depending on the degree of understanding and performance of the work of the residential welfare worker. Considering that residential welfare work is a means of improving housing stability and housing standard from a long-term perspective, it is necessary to expand the awareness of housing welfare workers in a broad sense.
Residential welfare workers include physical housing services and economic housing services, but the concept of living services that can maintain the convenience of life is not included in the scope of work. Accordingly, it is necessary to raise awareness of overall residential welfare work. In addition, since the practice of welfare work or problem-solving may appear differently for each difference in perception, education and action plans for enhancing professionalism should be changed.
