Botrytis cinerea (B. cinerea) is one of the necrotrophic pathogens that causes a heavy commercial loss in cut rose flowers. In this study, we investigated the effect of nano silver (NS) on B. cinerea infection, expression of ethylene related genes, and physiological changes in cut roses. The results showed that the growth of B. cinerea in rose petals strongly induced the transcript levels of ethylene biosynthesis (RhACS2, RhACS4, and RhACO1), receptor (RhETR1, RhETR3, and RhETR4), and signaling (RhCTR2, RhEIN3-2, and RhEIN3-3) genes. The accumulation of the transcripts of these genes induced the expression of B. cinerea snod-prot-like 1 (Bcspl1) which acts as the virulence factor and rapidly terminates the vase life of cut rose flowers.
