The purpose of this study is to verify the influence relationship between the motivation of choosing a major and behavior of preparing for a career based on theoretical consideration. Additionally, this study conducted to identify the mediated effects of major immersion and major satisfaction. A total of 300 surveys were distributed to university students majoring in cooking, confectionery, and baking in Busan and Gyeongnam. Out of 300 participants, a total of 284 were used for analysis after eliminating unfaithful responses. A summary of the findings is as follows. First, results of path analysis shown that the intrinsic motivation among the motivations for choosing a major showed a statistically impact on the behavior of preparing for a career, but the extrinsic motivation did not impact on the path. Second, the significance verification of the mediated effect shown that the mediated effect by major immersion is significant in all paths, while the mediated effect by major satisfaction is not significant in relation to intrinsic motivation and practical career preparation. In addition, present study found that the indirect effect of mediating concentration of the major was relatively greater than the satisfaction of the major when comparing the influence of the mediated effect. Based on these results, a theoretical basis may be provided for guiding college students majoring in cooking, confectionery, and baking to prepare for employment by characteristics. At the same time, the government proposed measures to improve the employment rate of students in practice.
