Objective: This study is to present as a basic material for maintaining oral health enhancement through the therapeutic effect of reducing halitosis before and after the treatment with prophylaxis using a BB Checker for 50 patients who complain of halitosis due to oral causes. Methods: All subjects were asked to fill out a questionnaire on oral health through individual interviews. Thereafter, halitosis concentration was the first measurement using a BB Checker, and after prophylaxis treatment, a tooth brushing instruction was performed and the halitosis concentration was remeasured using a BB Checker. Results: In case of measurement of halitosis concentration before and after treatment with prophylaxis using by BB Checker according to sex, halitosis measurement for males before the treatment with prophylaxis was 154.93±42.86, and halitosis measurement after the treatment with prophylaxis was 116.42±35.51, respectively. Also, in case of measurement of halitosis concentration before and after treatment with prophylaxis using by BB Checker according to sex, halitosis measurement for females before the treatment with prophylaxis was 133.42±52.82, and halitosis measurement after the treatment with prophylaxis was 97.24±30.66, respectively. Conclusion: Based on the fact that treatment with prophylaxis are effective in reducing halitosis, the need for regular treatment with prophylaxis for oral health is further emphasized, and the practice rate of treatment with prophylaxis can be increased for continued oral health management. Therefore, it seems that active oral health education programs should be activated.
