Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the influencing factors on anxiety of family caregivers with acute stroke inpatients. Methods: The participants were 105 family caregivers with acute stroke inpatients in a hospital of D city. Data were collected from August 3 to December 9, 2016. Research tools were Anxiety, Big Five Inventory-Korean version, Korean version of Zarit Burden Interview, Glasgow Coma Scale, and Korean version of Modified Barthel Index. Data were analyzed using t-test, one-way ANOVA with Scheffe test, Pearson’s correlation coefficient, and multiple regression by stepwise with SPSS/WIN 22.0 program. Results: Anxiety was negatively correlated with Extraversion, Stroke severity, and Activities of daily living and positively correlated with Neuroticism and burden. Influencing factors were burden(β=0.32, p<.001), Neuroticism (β=0.35, p<.001), Extraversion(β=-0.19, p=.008), Stroke severity(β=-0.23, p=.001), Relationship(β=-0.24, p=.001), Gender of patients(β=-0.21, p=.003). These variables explained 53% of the variance in anxiety. Conclusion: Therefore, it is necessary to develop nursing interventions that reduce the burden and anxiety considering not only the Personality types and Relationship with acute stroke inpatients, but also the severity and Gender of patients.
