This paper explores the structure and characteristics of Korean protestant church’s overseas missionary movement, focusing on “Back To Jerusalem”(BTJ) movement. Though BTJ movement originated in mainland China in the early part of 20th century, it was recently accepted by Korean evangelical churches as well as by world evangelical churches. The most activistic agent of BTJ movement in Korea is Intercp, a non-denominational missionary body. On a macro level, the theological colour of Intercp is not different from the one of most of Korean protestant churches. The theology of them is evangelistic and fundamentalistic. Arguing that BTJ movement could be a effective means of world evangelization, Intercp spreads BTJ vision positively,The two pillars of BTJ movement are the myth of “westward of the Gospel” and the ritual of “walking prayer”. According to the myth, the pathway of the Gospel has spread in a westward direction, from Jerusalem to Europe, to America, then to the East Asia, and should carry on from China all the way back to Jerusalem. When the Gospel returns to Jerusalem, Christians will witness the second coming of Christ. This myth gave rise to the ritual of “walking prayer.” Expecting the immanent return of Christ, Intercp performed that ritual on the mission field, surrounded by Islamic countries between China and Jerusalem. Taking this myth and ritual as an weapon, Intercp declared spiritual welfare in the frontier. The members of Intercop regard themselves as spiritual soldiers belonging to spiritual army. Their language is also very militant and combative. These factors produced their religious militarism, which led to aggressive missionary activities abroad.
