Mongolia is a developing country with a high per capita intensity of greenhouse gas emissions. The country faces new challenges to meet increasing energy demand fulfilling its promise to cut greenhouse gas emissions. The Mongolian energy sector is dominated by coal-based energy generation. This article presents the findings of the energy demand analysis and greenhouse gas emission trends. The study was carried out using the Low Emissions Analysis Platform (LEAP) software by the construction of the Mongolian energy sector model based on the year 2018. The Mongolian energy sector model scenarios were built for the years 2018, 2030 and extended to 2050.
