This study presents an analysis of factors affecting the future REC price in relation to changes in the renewable energy generation environment. In Korea, RPS (Renewable Portfolio Standard) policy has been implemented since 2012 to support renewable energy. In RPS, Supply Obligators (large power companies with more than 500 MW generators) must supply certain percentage of their total production as renewable energy. As a way of complying with RPS obligations REC is used. Even though the Supply Obligators’ mandatory supply amount is continuously increasing, there are a lot of surplus REC’s due to rapid growth in the amount of solar power generation. As the result, REC price is falling rapidly. For successful renewable energy businesses, future REC price should be predicted. In the past, REC price was usually predicted with the formula “LCOE-SMP=REC” by using LCOE (Levelized Cost of Electricity) and SMP (System Maginal Price). However there are limitations like government policies and the actual number of renewable energy generation in that, it does not reflect the real electricity market conditions. Therefore, REC prices should be predicted by demand (Supply Obligators’ mandatory supply amount) and supply (renewable energy supply amount). For these reasons, factors affecting t ... 전체 초록 보기
