This article is a theological study of robots with a canonical approach, concerned with work of human beings. Three categories of ancient and modern world, through the Old Testament, are arranged to analyze the correlation between human and robots. The three themes are work, ‘person, ’ and mimesis. The production of intelligent robots is similar to the creation of human beings in ancient world and Old Testament. A common point of three parts is work; however, its meaning is different from each other. In the cases of robots and ancient world its image is clearly negative; on the contrary, its meaning is positive from the beginning of creation in the canonical Bible. Secondly, it analyzes the identity of the worker. Parts of robots and ancient world regard human as an object devoid of personality. However, in the Old Testament, the origin of humankind goes back to the image and likeness of God. The third factor is mimesis(imitation). One who was created only to work in ancient world imitates the nature of gods. The model for the imitation of robots is a human being. Could a human being be a subject of imitation? Lastly, a theological opinion about human and robot is explored. It is important to reconceive the meaning of work and the identity of worker. Human values are subject to change according to the model of imitation. In conclusion, the Bible uniquely emphasizes a very close correlation between human and work, the divineness of work, the dignity of human beings, as well as freedom and order. It is then our task, as to how they are to be applied to robots as new species.
