The material industry is the backbone of national industries, and major advanced countries have designated it as a core technology and are implementing policies to protect and nurture it. Korea is also increasing investment in R&D in the material field to encourage the material industry, and it is time to analyze the R&D performance. This study analyzes the efficiency of research projects conducted between 2010 and 2020 at a research institute specializing in materials. We defined the input variables are R&D funds, labour, and period and the output variables are published papers, patents, and royalty income, which used the data envelopment analysis. According to the results of the analysis, Technology Efficiency was 0.754 and Pure Technology Efficiency was 0.821, indicating high efficiency. The primary research program and the research program of the Ministry of Science and ICT(MSIT) were analyzed to have higher efficiency than other research programs. The efficiency of applied research and development research was lower than that of basic research.
