The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of early childhood teachers‘ perception of children’s rights on the early childhood guidance strategy for problem behavior through the communication ability and empathetic ability of teachers. The subjects of the study were 300 early childhood teachers working kindergartens and daycare centers located in Seoul and Gyenggi area. For analyses, bootstrapping verification and process Macro program were performed using SPSS 22.0. The results showed that there were statistically significant correlations among awareness of children’s rights, communication ability, empathetic ability and guidance strategy for problem behavior. Also, teachers’ communication ability and empathetic ability showed partial dual mediating effects in the relationship between awareness of children’s rights and guidance strategy for problem behavior. This study revealed that teachers’ communication ability and empathetic ability not only had direct effects on guidance strategy for problem behavior but also had indirect effects as mediating factors between teachers’ awareness of children’s rights and guidance strategy for problem behavior. The findings of this study can be used as fundamental data for developing early childhood teacher education program of guidance strategy for problem behavior.
