As a field research study on reading comprehension, this paper discusses the cognitive differentiation of summary and recall in consideration of language performance level and text genre. Compared to the summary, recall has never been properly dealt with in the field of Korean language education, and its importance has never been highlighted. Considering that, this paper tried to discuss reminiscence, as a basic discussion, by comparing it with the summary. To this end, it was reviewed how summary and recall can be differentially revealed according to the learners' text genre and learners' language performance level. In all text genres, the summary and recall showed a significant difference, and also according to the learner's performance level. The two cognitive modalities showed differential results. However, as for the difference between the text genres, the difference between the summary and the recollection was greater than that of the essay branch, which was different from the results assumed in the hypothesis. However, this paper was limited to a limited range of texts and survey participants, and the theoretical reconstruction of recall was not properly discussed as it focused on field research focusing on cognitive differentiation from summaries.
