Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of communication competence and critical thinking disposition on problem-solving skills of nursing student. Method: Data were collected from 169 nursing students by means of self reported questionnaires about communication competence, critical thinking disposition and problem-solving skills from September 5 to 13, 2016. Results: There were positive correlations between communication competence, critical thinking disposition and problem-solving skills. The critical thinking disposition (β=.41, p<.001), communication competence (β=.35, p<.001) and male (β=.13, p=.015) were significant predictors of problem-solving skills. Conclusion: It is necessary to develop an effective intervention program to improve nursing student’s problem-solving skills by critical thinking disposition and communication competence.
