Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the causal relationship between perceived value, place attachment, and local attachment among residents who use Gangbyeon Sports Park.
Method: A total of 306 local residents who use Gangbyeon Sports Park were sampled, resulting in 304 valid responses after excluding two incomplete or biased entries. For data analysis, exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis were performed using SPSS 23.0, with the significance level set at .05. Additionally, the orthogonal rotation method (Varimax) was applied to confirm the unidimensionality of each component, and Cronbach’s α was used to assess the reliability of the variables.
Results: The key findings are as follows: 1) The perceived value of using Gangbyeon Sports Park significantly influenced place attachment. Specifically, the functional and emotional values, as subdimensions of perceived value, impacted all aspects of place attachment, including place dependence and place embeddedness. Additionally, social value significantly affected place embeddedness. 2) The perceived value of the park also had a significant influence on local attachment. All sub-dimensions of perceived value—functional, emotional, and social value—had a significant effect on the sub-factors of local attachment, including mutual consciousness, satisfaction, and intimacy. 3) Place attachment to Gangbyeon Sports Park significantly influenced local attachment. In particular, place embeddedness influenced all subfactors of local attachment, including mutual consciousness, satisfaction, and intimacy. Place dependence had a significant effect on satisfaction and intimacy.
Conclusion: In summary, this study confirms a significant relationship between the perceived value of using Gangbyeon Sports Park and both place attachment and local attachment among residents.
