Objectives: The aim of this study is to identify factors that influence health literacy among individuals with hearing impairments. Methods: An online self-administered survey based on the HLSEU- Q16 was conducted with 120 individuals with hearing impairments through collaborating organizations. Statistical analysis using SAS examined descriptive differences. Results: The average health literacy levels based on education levels were statistically different at a significance level of 0.05. They were 6.37 points for elementary school or below, 7.36 points for middle school, 7.66 points for high school, and 10.14 points for college or higher. In terms of economic status, the scores also showed statistically significant differences at a significance level of 0.05. The scores were 6.63 points for an income of less than 1 million KRW, 9.12 points for an income between 1 million KRW and 2 million KRW, 9.21 points for an income between 2 million KRW and 3 million KRW, and 11.7 points for an income of more than 3 million KRW. Subsequent subgroup analysis among individuals aged 40 and above showed consistent statistically significant differences between education and economic status. Conclusion: The study revealed statistically significant differences in health literacy levels concerning factors such as economic and educational levels. Therefore, continuous attention and efforts are necessary to ensure educational conditions for the hearing-impaired and to enhance economic participation.
