Talmy’s (1972) typological framework distinguishes between verb-framed and satellite-framed languages in their strategies for encoding caused-motion semantics. While this framework provides descriptive adequacy, it does not address the underlying syntactic mechanisms responsible for these distinctions. Folli and Harley (2020) proposed that verb-framed languages encode the Result (Res) feature through head movement, triggered by uninterpretable Res feature with EPP [uRes*] on the verb, whereas satellite-framed languages allow the uninterpretable Res feature without EPP [uRes] on the verb within a prepositional phrase. However, their analysis primarily focused on Indo-European languages and did not extend to East Asian verb-framed languages. This study builds on their theoretical framework to investigate Korean caused-motion constructions, demonstrating that [uRes*] on the verb compels Res-to-v movement to satisfy feature-checking requirements. By situating Korean within this parametric framework, the study provides a syntactically grounded explanation for typological variation, highlighting the morphosyntactic integration of result semantics in Korean. These findings provide valuable insights into the syntactic mechanisms underlying the encoding of caused-motion events in East Asian verb-framed languages.
