The purpose of this study is to investigate and analyze the actual situation of the child physical training program and method that are currently provided by child education institutions and to seek the method to improve the physical training for children.
145 infant physical education teachers of child education institutions located in Seoul City were selected as objects of this study.
Questionnaires regarding the child physical training program and method were distributed to these teachers and this investigation was conducted according to self-administration method.
The result of the research are as follows;
1. As regards the facility & circumstance characteristics, most of child education institutions had exclusive physical education teachers. Most of those teachers were those who majored in physical training. Most of child education institutions have facility, equipment, tools for physical training activity.
2. The purpose of the programs was mainly for the physical strength development, character and sociality development of children. Physical lessons were mainly given in the classroom Mostly two teachers jointly give the lesson to the class of 21-30 children. Mostly the lesson was provided once a week. The time of one lesson was about 30 minutes.
3. As regards the characteristics of teaching method, most of the lessons were given according to ages and class through direct activities with children Many teachers were using their teaching schedule, and most of the schedules were monthly ores Many teachers were giving lessons according to their monthly schedule, The basis for teaching was mostly according to ages and interest of the children Most of them were using the teaching evaluation The evaluation of teaching method and the evaluation of learning achievement, most of the teachers were performing these two As regards the evaluation of physical exercising ability, many were not conducting it. Many were rot reflecting the result of their evaluations in their physical education, and not providing the feedback to physical training activities of the children. As regards the effect of physical education, it was shown high on the character formation and sodality cultivation of the children.
