This study aims to examine the associations between perceived coaching style and doping attitude based on self-determination theory in elite athletes. Total 332 players( mean age 20.69 years, SD 2.65, male 298) took part in this study. Data were collected using questionnaires. Majority of participants were collegiate players (91.2%). Many of participants played soccer (41.0%) and golf (52.9%). Structural equation modeling was adopted to test the hypothesis. In the result, autonomy supportive coaching style positively predicted basic psychological needs, autonomous motivation, and doping attitude. Controlling coaching style negatively predicted basic psychological needs, controlled motivation, but did not predict doping attitude. The results of this study indicate that the perception of elite athletes toward coachings tyles should be taken into account to prevent doping in elite sport.
