In this study, we examined how the history of commerce in the Chosun Dynasty was described in the books of Korean general history from 1945 to the 1970s. It is a historical research method to objectify the study of commercial history in Chosun Dynasty from the 1960s to the 1970s. Based on the Theory of the Embryo of Capitalism, the study of commercial history in this period has laid the foundation for overcoming the theory of stagnation. Despite these implications, these studies lacked a structural understanding of the distribution structure of goods by highlighting only the developmental aspects.
Despite these shortcomings, these studies are based on empirical evidence. Thus, the research results of this period are still alive and powerful today, 50 years later. If studies in the 1960s and 1970s focused primarily on change and development, it is necessary to systematize the dimensions of structure and operation on the basis of these changes and developments.
