The impact of COVID-19 on a surgeon's daily practice and severe disruption to the surgical care community and worldwide have been profound. As elective and non-urgent surgeries have been postponed or canceled, surgeons have become an important staff resource in the healthcare system treating the COVID-19 pandemic.

Guidance has been urgently needed on how to deliver surgical services safely and effectively in the face of pressures placed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The role of 'Surgical services in pandemic' need to balance supporting the whole hospital resources and minimizing the risk of nosocomial spread of COVID-19 against continuing care for acute surgical conditions and managing urgent elective surgery.

And as the impact of COVID-19 becomes better controlled, a thoughtful and structured approach is also needed to resume surgical services and prepare a surgical backlog.

However, these surgical services vary widely around the world due to budget constraints, health system conditions, and local or regional variations in patient demographics, which results in different and often contradictory guidelines issued by different institutions.

Nevertheless, all surgical specialties have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and have had to triage the urgency of their daily surgical procedures and cons ... 전체 초록 보기
