This study examines the costumes expressed on clay figures excavated from the Jeongnimsa temple site of Baekje in the 6th century. The procedure of the study was to identify the hairstyle, crown, and shape of clothing expressed on the clay figures, and to compare each type of clothing with Baekje and neighboring clothing data, and to determine the position of the costume on the history of Baekje. First of all, the official hats that can be seen from the head figures are Nonggwan(籠冠) and Chaek(幘), and the hairstyle is Gogye(高髻), Sangtu, Chebal(剃髮), and Kwonbal(卷髮). In addition, the clothes identified in the clay figures are Po(袍;robe)∼Gun(裙;skirt)∼Pyeseul(蔽膝;apron), Po∼Pyeseul, Yu(襦;jacket)∼Go(袴;pants), Po, Gun, Gyeongeon(肩巾;shoulder shawl) and Yangdang(裲襠;vest like-shaped armor). However, in the middle of the 3rd century, Baekje was already wearing Po, and Nonggwan and Chaek were already introduced in the exchange with Nakrang and Daebang. Since its initial introduction, it has been worn in some regions and classes, but it does not seem to have been established as one of the Baekje official clothing systems until the 6th century, and it is estimated that it became as part of the official clothing in the 7th century. The expression of the Chaek and Po expressed in the clay figures shows a Baekje transformation, and Yu∼Go was not a Chinese style, but a Baekje-specific form. In archaeology, negative opinions are dominant on whether to wear the costume as it is a production due to the inflow of technology from the outside. However, through this paper, it is significant that it revealed the possibility that clay figures" costume was actually worn in Baekje.
