Seeing the research results announced between 2013 and 2014, regardless of the theses and books, the studies of cultural history are occupied more than political history. The task of the study of political history of late Joseon dynasty is to fundamentally examine what king Yeongjo and king Jeongjo aimed to pursue and what the political ideology was in the first half of 19thcentury. The studies about this point ares till insufficient. The researches about the finance, commerce, distribution, women’s commercial activities and ecological condition changes have continuously been practiced. This kind of basic studies may not raise interests immediately, but they will be helpful to investigate the social features in late Joseon dynasty at last.
In field of the social history, many concrete case studies were announced to clarify the fact of the feudal society. However, it is more meaningful that the viewpoint appeared that we should consider the time of late 19<SUP>th</SUP> century as the new era of communication rather than understand as conflict and resist. It suggested a new perspective to understand the Korean history. In field of the cultural history, it still lacks precise examinations about one’s idea and feasibility of his reform proposal.
Though many research results were announced in 2 years, 2013-2014, it is hard to estimate that innovative development was done. However, the result of the historical studies are not approached at once, nevertheless, changing the research tendency following the trend and current is undesirable too. It is expected that there will be significant understanding about the history of late Joseon dynasty soon as there are constant studies progressed in many fields and effects to view subjects by new perspective using wide data.
