Unemployment rate of youth aged between 15 to 29 is increased three times while they have a very tough time to get a job. The currently employed face to difficult situations with wages, working conditions, and other circumstances. Especially for Daegu region, the absence of a major company and the decline of main industries such as textile and construction led to the lowest ranking of Daegu on GRDP. Thus, it is predictable for the youth to get the worse employment situation. By analyzing the survey for current 802 youth employees who perform economic activities in Daegu area, the study shows what difficulties they go through in the workplace and suggests a several policy plans to improve the condition. The youth employees mostly work for a small business with high employee turnover and short term of service, and moreover the rate of irregular workers reaches to 33.4%. Their wage maintains at minimum wage in spite of overtime working, and even fundamental articles of the Labor Standard Act are not followed in break and annual leave. Therefore, it requires a reinforced labor supervisor for the companies that hire a large number of youth. The result focused on 4 sections of public and private services, office workers, and field staffs tells that public service is rather satisfactory while private service is relatively poor, but there is no big difference. The fact is that the significant problems for poor working conditions are the absence of major companies as well as a lack of jobs in economically backward regions. For the reasons above, they need to be various measures such as promotion of competitive small and medium business, reduction of working hours, change from irregular to permanent employee condition, and increase of job opportunities in public sector.
