The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of training types on body composition and SFT(Senior Fitness Test), age related hormone in the Elderly Females. The subjects(n=27) were assigned randomly to either an aerobic exercise training group(AETG, n=9), combined exercise training group(CETG, n=9), control group(CON, n=12). The exercise training for 12 weeks consisted of 4 sessions per week with 60 minutes per session. In addition, the intensity for aerobic exercise training was RPE(9-11) of the Borg scale and combined exercise was performed at the same intensity with aerobic exercise and resistance exercise program. The results of this study are as follows: First, Body composition was significant in BMI(CETG: p〈.05), skeletal muscle(CETG: p〈.05) and FFM(CETG: p〈.01). Second, SFT significantly were in increased cardiovascular endurance(AETG, CETG: p〈.05), waist flexibility(AETG, CETG: p〈.05), agility and dynamic balance(CETG: p〈.05). DHEAs(AETG, CETG: p〈.05) and Estrogen (CETG: p〈.05) significantly were in increased.
In conclusion, the body composition of the elderly women was effective in combined exercise, and both exercise types were positively effective in the elderly SFT. DHEAs of age related hormone were higher in the order of combined exercise and aerobic exercise, and estrogen was more effective in compound exercise. In terms of exercise effects, combined exercise, including resistance exercise, is more effective than general exercise in improving overall fitness, age related hormone, and improving the quality of life of the elderly.
