Background: The study aimed to examine the effects of short-term educational program on the management of anaphylaxis using pre-hospital simulation.
Methods: A one-group pre- and post-study design was used to examine the effects of the short-term educational program. For two days, the students participated in the educational program based on pre-hospital simulation which was jointly developed by there-searcher, two paramedicine professors, and a current emergency medicine doctor. The effects were evaluated before and after the education program using the knowledge and clinical skills scales.
Results: After the education program, there was a significant increase in the knowledge score (t=5.87, p＜0.001), and the clinical skills score (t=7.21, p＜0.001) of the participants.
Conclusion: The two-day education program based on the pre-hospital simulation was effective in enhancing knowledge and clinical skills of the participants on the management of anaphylaxis, which is a crucial part of paramedics’ medical response ability.
