From the perspective of expectation discrepancy theory, this study explores expectations before participation in a daily health gymnastics (towel gymnastics) program using towels for elderly people with physical disabilities and perceived performance, satisfaction, and subsequent support after participation in the towel gymnastics exercise program. The purpose is to find out its effectiveness. This study was conducted as part of the “2023 Happy Hundred Years Project for the Elderly and Disabled” conducted by the Gangwon-do Regional Health and Medical Center for the Disabled, and a total of 551 people from 18 cities and counties in Gangwon-do were surveyed. The results are as follows: First, expectations before participating in towel gymnastics significantly positively(+) affected perceived performance after participating. Second, expectations before participating in towel gymnastics did not significantly affect satisfaction. Third, the perceived performance after participating in towel exercises had a significant positive (+) effect on satisfaction. Fourth, satisfaction with towel gymnastics had a significant positive(+) effect on support. Fifth, in the relationship between expectations and satisfaction before participating in towel gymnastics, the perceived performance after participating was found to have a mediating effect. Based on this study, we confirmed the effectiveness of exercise programs for elderly people with physical disabilities, and in the future, organizational managers need educational services that thoroughly plan, execute, and evaluate taking into account the participants and subjective situations.
